Your playing small does not serve the world.

I like this Marianne Williamson quote a lot so I thought I would post it for all of us.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, “who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?” Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us, it is in every one. And as we let our light shine, we give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our fears our presence liberates others.

  1. Hi
I have never left a reply before in my life, but tonight when I ran across your homepage I couldn’t help but leave you this little note. I recently printed this quote and read it everyday. It has inspired me to try and change things in my life but I didn’t know where to begin. They say when the student is ready the teacher will appear. Well maybe I’m ready.
Oh and by the way, not to say that you are wrong but the quote has been mistakenly attributed to Mandela it was actually written by Marianne Williamson – spiritual mentor. Hopefully I’ll get enough courage to not play small any longer and contact you for guidance. Thanks for posting the quote.
    Goodnight.

  2. Thanks Dana.
